Creative Team Lead Cap Hill Brands [Jan 2021 to present]
Cap Hill is a rapidly growing online retailer. I write marketing copy, analyze SEO keyword research, create storyboards for video, develop AB image test plans, and manage a staff of 3 highly skilled graphic designers. This business is ever-changing, and the challenge of it is what puts the spice in my everyday life.
Content Manager Zulily [Feb 2016 to Dec 2020]
Zulily is an online retailer. I managed a staff of 3 copywriters and mentored many others. I led the editorial side of the 2019 rebrand and developed the brand’s copy voice. I scripted commercials, tutorial videos and even a game show. My favorite project: Developing the company tagline.
Content Manager Namecheap Inc. [Oct 2013 to Feb 2016]
Namecheap is a domain registrar. I managed a staff of 10 copywriters, most of whom were based in Ukraine. We wrote everything from product pages to press releases to blog posts. The most satisfying project I did there was the 2015 UX redesign.
Studio Owner/Manager Tin Can Studio [Apr 2007 to Oct 2013]
For a while, I ran my own dance studio. I taught classes, handled the business, managed a staff of 10 other teachers, and put on performance events. I founded and directed 2 well-known dance troupes, and I brought in a steady stream of new clients on an annual marketing budget of $0.
Copywriter Recreational Equipment Inc. [May 1998 to Apr 2007]
REI is a Northwest icon. This is where I learned the meaning of the word “branding.” Primarily, I wrote marketing copy for both digital and print. Along the way, I also developed skills in project management, HTML, graphic design and photo editing.
Copywriter Multiple Zones Inc. [May 1995 to May 1998]
This is where I learned the craft of copywriting. I wrote print advertising for computers and software. Near the end of my time there, I developed a copy voice for the company’s first-ever online store.
